Old Chapel Flowers are a family run business based close to Shaftesbury and Gillingham, in North Dorset. I have a passion for fresh locally grown flowers which, much to the consternation of my husband, I am always happy to talk about at length.
In the spring of 2014 we were fortunate enough to move into ‘The Old Chapel’ which is set in about 1.5 acres of land overlooking fabulous and ever-changing views of the Dorset countryside. The ‘micro holding’ came complete with 2 large growing poly tunnels, originally in complete disrepair and in need of major refurbishment. Determined to make use of the tunnels we decided that they would be ideal for growing early and late blooming flowers and for sowing annual seeds for the coming summer season. This gave us the exciting opportunity to develop a hobby/passion (originating from spending hours as a child on my parent’s allotment), into a business of growing cottage garden style British flowers.
In addition to our polytunnel and the garden patch, we are constantly building more raised beds that are perfect for growing cut flowers. We look forward to increasing production year on year and growing increasingly interesting flower varieties ‘fresh from the field’.
