Our Story
Starting out on Our Plot
Old Chapel Flowers is a family run business based close to Shaftesbury and Gillingham in North Dorset.
In the spring of 2014, we moved into 'The Old Chapel', a 2 acre plot overlooking the stunning North Dorset countryside. In 2016 myself (Sue) and my 'always handy with a drill' husband, Paul founded Old Chapel Flowers and followed our dream of growing fresh, locally grown cut flowers from our flower farm.
To extend our growing season we utilise the large poly tunnels, (originally in complete disrepair), which enables us to offer Dorset grown flowers and arrangements from April onwards, (for Weddings, Events and Funeral flowers, these are offered all year round).
The Workshop
In 2021 we acquired our fabulous Shepherds Hut as the main HQ of Old Chapel Flowers. The original aim was to use this great space for workshops and I'm so happy that five years on we are still holding a variety of exciting workshops!! From ‘Grow your own Cut Flower Patch’ to ‘Gather and Create’, if you fancy trying something new in a beautiful countryside setting, please do get in contact (if there is a group of four or five of you we can even host private group workshops.). Click here for more Workshop info.
Our Floristry
We pride ourselves in growing interesting flower varieties ‘fresh from the field’, and along with the ever-changing seasons this means that no two floral arrangements are the same! Being growers as well as florists, we love to grow and nurture soft and romantic Wildflower type blooms and use these to create organic, ethereal type arrangements. Sustainability is incredibly important to us, starting with how we grow our flowers to using traditional techniques to support our arrangements. Our flowers are completely guided by the seasons and are proud to be truly seasonal!!
I'm always so happy to hear back from our lovely clients, and it's been an absolute pleasure to help so many happy wedding couples and clients over the past ten years - I'm so looking forward to another ten years of spreading more flower-filled joy!
